About 13 years ago I lived in a town where the mail carrier had a curled, handlebar mustache.
He was a cheery guy. He’d always walk with a spring in his step, and whenever he saw me I was always sure to get a “Hey, Steve!”
Of course, being friendly is a good thing, but being friendly with a handlebar mustache doubles the goodness. A greeting from him always made me happy. That’s the power of whimsy.
The world takes itself way too seriously. Just a touch of whimsy every now and then can make life that much more joyous.
In the film “Willie Wonka And The Chocolate Factory” with Gene Wilder (Favorite!), Wonka says: A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.
How very true.
How very, very true.
